Thanks for the e-mails re: the steering column on my '64.
You were right on with your advice and I was able to repair it myself.
Saved a bunch of money listening to you and proud to have
done it myself! If I lived anywhere near NY I'd join your group!
Thanks Again!

George

I've been checking regularly for the photos from the 2009 Vanderbilt Show.
They are usually posted shortly after the show.
It was a great show,
one I look forward to participating in every year.
Anxious to view them.
IMHO it is the best show of the year.
Thanks

Bill, if you read the feedback directly under your post you will know why.
You will find all the information you need at the OFFICIAL website of Long Island Vettes, Ltd.

There used to be a section on this site that had the meeting schedule, but, it seems to have vanished . Also gone is the application for membership .

This may in fact be the original website of Long Island Vettes.
However the webmaster of this site, Richard Shields, is no longer a
board member of the club and refuses to update, change or modify
the content at the request of the current Board of Directors.

He also refuses to allow the current Board access
to the site to make necessary changes and updates.

Therefore this site has now become a "rogue" site and
is no longer associated to "Long Island Vettes".

A new OFFICIAL site has been created named www.LongIslandVettes.org
where all members of the club should now access for OFFICIAL and UP TO DATE information.

The Board of Directors of Long Island Vettes
is in discussions with the host of this
rogue site to have it shut down.

Since Mr. Shields has total control of this site I'm not certain
this message will remain here too long since he has
the power to delete anything at his discression.

Again, the OFFICIAL website of Long Island Vettes is www.LongIslandVettes.org
Thank you

To the board

It just hit me that after this snow storm, if the library didn't close,
there would have been an election of just a few people.
This could have been good for one of the nominees, where a possible 10 people
could have voted in a new VP.
What would happen next month if some members were
stuck at work or the train was delayed or
just can't make the meeting in April.

Would it be fair?

So it seems that we are right back to where we started.
A few members can make a decision for the whole membership.
I feel all members should have their vote counted by a mail-in-ballot.

When the opinion poll was counted there was a decision the have an election.
Lou said that the board would come up with our first rule
who can be nominated (have to attend a certain amount of
meetings or amount of shows or some kind of rule)
and run it passed the membership but that didn't happen.

Also there are no minutes posted and no mention of an election
on the web site (until this Monday since the library was closed there will be
an election next month) or the opinion poll results saying
there was even going to be an election.

Like I said before it seems like we are right back to where we
started back in November where a few members make a decision
for the whole membership and
that's not what it was intended to be.

Since the whole membership is not involved in an election
and the results could vary depending on which
members make the meeting on that certain day.

I would like to retract my acceptance for a nominated board position.
I am glad to see that the club is having an election but
do not agree with the way it is handled.

I would like to wish John DiFilippi
and Ralph Marigliano luck in the up coming election.

Sorry guys I had to send all those emails and unofficial opinion poll but it needed to be done to keep all the members informed. Don't forget to send the official opinion poll with YOUR decision to have elections or not.

To the current Board

One question if there are no elections this year as you said in your letter with the official opinion poll, are you still the Acting President and Acting Vice President for the next year?
Since neither Pres. or VP are elected officials shouldn't the next in command
move up to take the place?
Maybe Carol should move up to Pres and Rich Fingerhut move up to VP in the chain in command?

Richie, just recieved the "informal ballot" today. I am a member for 0ver 5 years now, and am also an active member or Metro LI NCRS. You do an outstanding job, and I do NOT even think there was a reason for your letter! I don't attend meetings, but I think I speak for the majority, that the absence of "BY-Laws", is not a problem. A wise man once said, "if it's not broke, DON'T FIX IT!"
Best Regards, DPMc

board. while I have not been able to attend in awhile, due to being caretaker of my mom
who has alzheimer's, I did not think club would change........surprised and saddened..

I came across your club as I was checking out numerous other corvette clubs recently.  It was very refreshing reading about your members as I hadn't seen any clubs do a profile on their members.  I was one of those kids growing up savoring the fact of owning a corvette one day from which my dream was fullfilled back in 2002 when I purchased a 1973 L-48 automatic Elkhart Green from the original owner.  Your clubs profiles were a breath of fresh air to share with my own experience as so many corvette owners can relate to.  Thank you for profiling your members as to the credit of what it means to own a piece of Americana.

congradulations on a fantastics newsletter; the layout/format is appealing & easy to read & navigate. very professional, as is the website. the contributing writers have adding great stories.I enjoy the tech write-ups for the information even if I can't do the job.
I suggest adding the year of the vette(s) next to the names of members when listing new members & birthdays. It would facilite networking with members who have similar cars & issues.
I wished I lived closer so I could make meetings.
keep up the good work.   RIDE!

I just want to say THANK YOU for providing these AMAZING shots of Corvettes through the years.  I am creating a photo montage of our grandson, with him being 10 months old, sitting in a baby's car.  His father is a devotee, and has owned  Corvettes, along with memorabilia, so we think that he will love this 81/2"x11" we are doing for him.  It is his birthday, and this will be his first birthday present from us (his new son), and you made it happen!  I have been 'piece-mealing' clipart from everywhere, and then I found you through  'ask.com'.  Kudos to all of you, it will make our son's birthday on 1/16/08 one of his best!
Thank you for giving such great graphics, and the art-known as- the Corvette- to all of us!

I went to your Vanderbilt Show last year and I was really impressed.  Some really nice looking cars there.  The thing I liked most about it was that they weren't all C5's which suits me fine because I have a '77 (still waiting for the paint shop).  I spoke to someone named Joe (maybe Jim?) and he told me that there are different classes for street driven cars which mine will be if I ever get it back.  So maybe this year I'll enter my car in the show.  Either way I'll be at your show but I hope to be an entrant?

I just wanted to say thanks for the advice.  You were right on the money they had everything I needed for the interior although a couple of pieces had to be backordered.  I hope to have the car ready by the spring and I'll get back to you then.  Thanks again - Tommy
