How it works.
From
time
to
time
we've
all
had
questions
about
our
Corvettes.
Wouldn't
it be
great
if we
had
another
Corvette
the
same
years
as
our
to
compare
to?
"Wonder
if
anyone
else
has
every
had
this
problem?"
"I
think
this
is
right,
wish
I
could
verify
it
with
somebody."
"Wish
I
knew
somebody
I
could
ask
about
this."

Corv61blue I have been a vette owner for over 20 years. I started with a 1976 red t-top, then a 1986 Grey and white two tone and finally the my current Blue and White 1961 “roadster”. My 61 is a daily driver….its my regular car. I keep this “relic” from days gone buy with regular maintenance and little restoration when needed. I have done crazy things like install air conditioning and a trailer hitch for my mountain bikes. The car looks original from the outside except for the mag wheels. You can get more info from my web site http://djboccio.home.mindspring.com/ ….. My next project is make the car “water proof”, I still getting a leak by the doors when I bring the car to the carwash in the winter.
bg61red 1961 red/white coves; black interior convertible; 2x4 dual carbs; high cam lifter 270hp matching numbers engine. I have owned for two years and looking to continue "correct" restoration, replacements and repairing. I live in Holbrook, Long island,NY. LICOA & NCRS member . I have questions regarding correctness & dating of items on car and cannot decipher NCRS judging manual and/or Corvette central & Paragon parts catalogs. Looking for someone who wants to teach a novice willing to learn.
Redroadster About Me: Founder and past President of a large NJ Vette club Writer for cruisin' magazine owned my '63 Vette for 29 years have a '69 Camaro (need room for the family on occasion) promoter of a large car show advisor to several car clubs used to judge "63 - '67 class at shows many years ago. Charter member "Grumpy Old Gearhead Dinosaur Corvette Club". About My Car: bought it in 1973, It was a Cal-custom type of ride. No bumpers, emblems and had a set of Cragars. It had many non '63 parts. I restored it back to original 10 years ago. I did have it painted Riverside red as opposed to dark blue (aren't all Vettes red?) White ragtop and a black interior. Non matching number car. It's family!
Casey Bones. Just purchased a 64 non matching number 4spd. convertible. Had a 74 big block 4 spd. that I sold 2 years ago. No motor work but did SS brakes, rebuilt carb, replaced gas sending unit, replaced radiator, new springs replaced carpets, stripped car to prepare for paint and a bunch of other odds and ends. Switched all fluids to Synthetics. I also weld but that car didn't need any welding.
pwol1958 - 64 vette white/red coupe - I've always wanted a corvette, especially when in 1961 at the age of 17 my father wouldn't allow me to swap one of our high school teachers his nice driver '56 vette even up for my pristine '54 Chevy Belaire convertible (which I paid $300 for a year earlier). The schoolteacher was about to become a father, and needed the additional passenger room and had a new '61 vette on order. A former classmate had gotten killed in a rollover in the '56 vette the teacher purchased and rebuilt it. Guess my father didn't want to take the chance that the corvette would take me as its second victim. Anyway, I finally bought my first project ''75 corvette in 1980 and have had the corvette disease ever since. I spent 6 years doing a body off on a '58 vette, but that's another long story. We currently own a '64 vette white/red coupe which I restored, a '86 yellow pace car and a '90 triple black convertible show car. I am currently side tracked on restoring a '69 Z28 Camaro, which I plan on swapping to my son for his '56 vette. After waiting 41 years, I may finally get the '56 vette that I wanted in 1961! I am currently the president of the Corvette Club of Texas in Dallas, TX.
Fuelie - I have a accurate clone 1965 Silver/Silver Fuel Coupe that I built in the late 70's and sold to a friend in 1983. I bought the car back in 10/01 and have been correcting some nonmatching #s details over the last year using the '65 NCRS Judging Manual as reference. Repainted the car, redyed the leather seats, repainted the original knockoffs, detailed the engine and chassis, changed the tinted glass back to original date coded "Soft Ray" side and vent windows as the windshield and rear were correct. Changed to silicone brake fluid and replaced the rear emergency brakes. The original '65 numbered injection has always performed well and with a correct 327 block that had been rebuilt, balanced, blueprinted with solids, the 30/30cam and reworked original heads - ported and polished with stainless exhaust valves and hardened valve seats and with factory side pipes, it runs and sounds great! I still am using the original style 775/15 "Goldline" Goodyear's with a 370 posi. and even with a'65 BB rear stabilizer bar, the traction is not very good. Over the years I have owned three '64 coupes (another fuelie, a 365hp, and an 300hp air/auto car), three '65 Coupes (two 365hp and my current fuelie), two '67's (a 350hp, 4spd, AC coupe and a 427/390, 4 spd. roadster), a '69 350hp, 4spd., T-Top car and a new 2001 Convertible purchased last October. I would be happy to lend assistance to any one needing advise or help with mid years.
MarkJ - I currently own a 1965 Yellow coupe with black interior 327/365.This car is pretty original with one repaint. I recently sold a 1964 FI conv which was all original but needed a complete restoration.
“The Griz” I purchased a 65 everything matching 327 Roadster as a basket case. Did everything myself and it is now complete. Since I am not a rich man, I believe if it is broken, it can be fixed, just don’t throw money at it. During my years of wrenching, I have figured out lots of neat tips to fabricate and make things work. Just ask I would be more than happy to help!
Big La 1966 conv 327/350 red/red gut , white top, 3rd owner totally restored original- " body off". Vette owner 10 years. Was into Harleys before that . Love to drive!!!!
INCORRECT 1966 Convertible, big block with extensive engine mechanical modifications
327SHP I own a 67' Rag Top small block shp, Ermine white, with side pipes. I have owned the car since 1969, I'm second owner. There are a few questions I would like to ask and probably a few I could answer. It would be great to join the group.
67Rag I have a 67 convertible, and have bought, restored, and sold many vettes in my days. I love to restore and drive the older (Pre-68) cars, and can offer help to others (and occassionally need advice myself).
PAPASMURF 1967 Small Block 4 Speed Convertible 128K Miles with replacement engine otherwise essentially stock. Guess you could say I'm your basic shadetree mechanic although I did spend a couple of years working for a Chevy dealer. I enjoy working on my car and my friend's cars when I can steal some time away (never seems to be enough time). Even if I'm not the best mechanic in the world I find it's good therapy. I'm not really a restoration type of guy but generally I should be able to tell you enough to help you keep'em rollin' down the road. I've had one Corvette or another since I was 18 and ... well lets just say I've had a fair amount of exposure. Really can't answer very much about anything newer than 1967. Charter member "Grumpy Old Gearhead Dinosaur Corvette Club".
F.Gregg I have 2 68's one of which will be an exact clone of the L-88 i raced in Europe the other is project car. All of my vettes are roadsters with hardtops only. I have been racing since 1973, started in Europe racing vettes in the FIA group 4 or G.T. class.
ninooch I currently own a 1968 convertible which is under construction and previously owned a 1969 stingray which had a complete body off restoration performed by my brother and I in my parents garage 11 years ago.
stepsvette I have a 1969 roadster, an uncommon 3 speed with a 350/300. Basically use this car for shows an a occasional run. I also own a 2001 coupe which I use for trips. I have been interested in vettes all my life and finally am fortunate enough to own two. You can see me at what else, stepsvette. My son and I are still playing with the site, but its worth a look.
Steam I have a 1969 corvette coupe. It is not a numbers matching car. I do not have a lot of experience with corvettes.
Batvette I have a 1971 small block 4 speed corvette So far any work that needed to be done on the car I did my self . But sooner or later we all need help. If I can help you with any of the projects that I've done let me know because someday I will need to pick your brain
Mutley Shirley and I own and are enjoying a 1978 silver anniversary L48 and a 1972 convertible 454 / 4 speed (love It) The 72 is sunflower yellow with a black soft top and interior
F.Gregg I have a 73' former IMSA GTO class vette which i race here at Willow Springs raceway. I have also raced in IMSA with my 73' of which I personally built then raced it in SCCA in the G.T.-1 class.
Big Tony 1974 Big Block Coupe 4 Speed Standard Shift Semi Custom, Also have experience 1990-1995 ZR-1's AND 1992 TO 1996 LT-1S.
Mickey I have a 1974 Corvette T-Top,L-82,Turbo-400 with a shift kit.This is my second 1974, my first one was a L-48 with a 4-speed.
butch I have a 1976 l48 I just purchased, looking for owner,s manual,and wiring diagram,s can anyone help me.thank,s butch.
BOB_S I own a 1977 Coupe since 1992, with a 4 speed, and removable tops. The car is shown in the "Modified" class as the interior, engine and the exterior have all been redone to the "Semi-Custom" level. The engine althought basically stock, has coated headers, an Edelbrock intake manifold and a reworked card, and lots of chrome.
BOBBY BEE 1977 Corvette - I just purchased this vette. The body is in good shape with some cracking in spots but it has never been hit. The interior needs work. Engine, tranny and rear end are all in good shape.
MR78VET We own two vets a 1978 Silver Anniversary T-top edition with the mirrored tops and a 1984 red coupe vet (the only color for vets). We are not mechanically inclined and usually have to have a good mechanic work them but will be glad to help if we can.
Mutley Shirley and I own and are enjoying a 1978 silver anniversary L48 and a 1972 convertible 454 / 4 speed (love It) The 72 is sunflower yellow with a black soft top and interior
Johnson 1980 This is the first Corvette I have ever owned, so with that being said, I have a few questions. Obviously, since the car is 22 years old, I expect to do some minor mechanical work myself. I look forward to receive any support you can offer me.
WOODY - Hi I am the new owner of a 1980 L82 vette. It is my first vette and I have a few questions and your site seems like a good place to have them answered by current vette owners.
Weendoggy We are the original owners of our 1981 Vette. I've been in the auto repair/build sector for 30+ yrs. I've gone completely through our car (minus a frame off) and intend to put TPI on soon. Small block, 4spd, white/black. This is daily driver and has over 150,000 miles on her. Glenn
Toby and Rita My wife and I have two Corvettes. Her's is a customized corvette titled an ’83. It is a show winner and spent almost ten years on and off the “World of Wheels” show circuit. Since acquiring it, I have done a lot of mechanical work to it since the underside of the car was neglected in favor of perfecting the paint and interior. The frame and most of the body is a C3. I have removed and rebuilt the entire suspension and in the near future am going to install a new motor with TPI system. I am also going to use a 700R4. I am a mechanical engineer and before getting my degree owned and operated an engine rebuilding company for about ten years. I can offer advice and instruction for a variety of subjects pertaining to corvette repair and preventive maintenance. I am eager to learn from others as well.
Toby and Rita My wife and I have two Corvettes. My car is an ’84. I have also rebuilt all 4 corners with suspension upgrades. I drive mine 500 to 600 miles a week and have turned every nut and bolt on the car at some time or another.I am a mechanical engineer and before getting my degree owned and operated an engine rebuilding company for about ten years. MICHAELLIKSIT - I AM A PROUD OWNER OF A 1989 CORVETTE AND HAVE HAD SOME EXPERIENCE WORKING AS A MECHANIC AT A WRECKING YARD AND AT A GARAGE. THIS IS MY FIRST CORVETTE AND I HAVE NOT DONE A LOT OF WORK TO IT AS OF YET. I DO HOWEVER HAVE SOME GENERAL MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT CARS AND TRUCKS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO TALKING WITH OTHER VETTE OWNERS.

stepsvette 2001 coupe - I have a 1969 roadster, an uncommon 3 speed with a 350/300. Basically use this car for shows an a occasional run. I also own a 2001 coupe which I use for trips. I have been interested in vettes all my life and finally am fortunate enough to own two. You can see me at what else, stepsvette. My son and I are still playing with the site, but its worth a look.
Rickvette 2001 Z06 - I've owned the following Corvettes - 1988 Roadster with an L98 motor, 1995 LTI Coupe, 1996 LT4 Coupe, 1999 LS1 C5 Coupe and a 2001 Z06. I have extensive knowledge of mechanics, motors, performance add-ons. I am always willing to help a fellow Corvette owner with any issue! Rickvette
